Six major events

To taste Burgundy wine

In Burgundy, opportunities to taste the region’s finest grands crus are year-round! A land of encounters, exchanges and culture, the region knows how to attract wine lovers and enthusiasts. With the complicity of winegrowers and merchants, the Côte-d’Or’s wine villages string together events in honor of their vineyards. From Beaune to Nolay, take advantage of these 6 convivial moments to share the secrets of winemaking, with friends or as a couple.

01. Wine Sales

At the Hospices de Beaune

Every 3rd Sunday in November, Beaune pulls out all the stops! On the occasion of the remarkable Hospices de Beaune wine auction, join lovers and connoisseurs of fine wines for the sacred and traditional Burgundy rendezvous. In addition to the city’s many festivities and events, enjoy the prestigious tastings organized by the winegrowers of the wine villages. Let your taste buds dance under the subtle aromas of Hospices wines and rare vintages that accompany local specialties.

During the auctions, you can support charitable impulses in favor of the Hospices Civils de Beaune. Take part in the auction yourself via the Maison Albert Bichot. Each year, this famous wine house offers you the chance to bid on the finest wines from the Hospices de Beaune. Then, on Sunday afternoon, attend the auction broadcast on a giant screen on Place de La Halle, just a few steps from the auction room. Personalities from the world of wine come to bid to win one or more barrels, from the 60 ha of the domain of the Hospices de Beaune.

More than just a getaway to Beaune, the wine sale is the chance to experience an authentic weekend. Mark your calendars!

2. Coup d'Oeil, Coup de Coeur

in Auxey-Duresses

On the 4th weekend in October, this grand fête in the picturesque wine village of Auxey-Duresses is well worth a visit. In a sublime setting of colorful vines, some twenty winegrowers vie with each other to turn your Burgundian autumn getaway into a real coup de coeur.

Discover their vineyards and enjoy the open cellars. Let yourself be carried away by the local hospitality. As you taste Auxey-Duresses wines and Burgundy specialities, you can admire craft exhibitions… Meet enthusiasts who are always delighted to share their love of the trade. Among the participants, the domaines Pruniers et Fille or the domaine André et Bernard Labry will satisfy your taste buds.

3. Le Printemps de Monthelie

On a getaway to the Beaune region, stop off at Monthelie. On the heights of Meursault, the narrow, winding streets of this charming winegrowing village offer irresistible medieval strolls: its château, home to the Domaine De Suremain , its old houses and its washhouse. Every Easter weekend, le Printemps de Monthelie invites all oenologists and wine lovers to cross the open cellars of local winemakers.

Between visits to the estates and wine walks, take advantage of free tastings to familiarize yourself with the tannin, smoothness and color of the red and white wines, for which Burgundy’s heritage is renowned.

With the sounds of musicians and entertainment in the various cellars and streets of the village, let yourself be carried away by the good humor of the festive villagers and the double effect of Monthelie’s terroirs…

4. Saint-Vincent Tournante

In honor of the Patron Saint of winegrowers, the Saint-Vincent Tournante is celebrated each year in a new village. The concept: one appellation invites the others! For the occasion, the villages embellish their tasting stands with paper flower decorations and self-explanatory signs like “Wine, for drinking. Water for shaving”. There’s plenty of preparation to go with it: humorous sketches, a parade-procession of costumed brotherhoods, street performers, brass bands, travelling shows and the enthronement ceremony.

One thing’s for sure: these entertainments guarantee a good time with friends. What’s more, these 2 days of festivities bring together lovers of Burgundy wine, as well as of festivities!

In 2023, the Saint-Vincent Tournante took place in Couchey and for 2024, it will be in Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny.

And don’t forget to enjoy the festivities: bring your Tasting Kit!!

5. From Bach to Bacchus

in Meursault

Imagine… strolling through the streets of a medieval village, glass in hand, to the music of Chopin, Mozart or Schuman. A movie scene? Even better! A unique experience at the Festival Musical des Grands Crus de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in Meursault.

Created in 1986 by Yves Henry, the Bach à Bacchus festival ambles its visitors, who come to applaud the talented artists as they perform in Meursault’s emblematic venues. In addition to classical music concerts, the event will delight lovers of wine and Burgundian gastronomy, offering tastings in the company of singers and musicians.

Outdoors, in cellars or Murisaltiens’ homes… Fanfare, organ, jazz, piano and unusual ensembles resonate during your tastings. In tribute to the nobility of Burgundy wines, the festival combines vines and music for a refined cultural marriage.

A Burgundy wine enthusiast and music lover, this musical and oenological journey is for you! On the program each year: concerts, wine tasting and places to discover…for a magical weekend in Côte-d’Or.

6. From Cep to Glass

in Nolay

What if wine tourism was a little more than wine tasting? That’s what the friendly town of Nolay is demonstrating with its “De cep en Verre” event. So, meet up in the village’s historic center, where every year some forty artisans are just waiting to share their crafts with you. Activities such as circus arts, jugglers, stilt-walkers and fire-eaters are there to entertain young and old… The locals know how to entertain and move during this weekend of festivities!

During the tasty breaks, children can enjoy basketry or mosaic workshops or go back in time with wooden games. Everything is planned for fun in an atmosphere that’s both friendly and poetic. At the end of your stay, trust the winemakers of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune to teach you the secrets and traditions of Burgundy crus.

Passionate about Pinot Noir, Chardonnay or meeting new people, the events organized in Burgundy offer good excuses to visit the region and share epicurean moments as a couple or with friends. A cellar tasting, a hike through the vineyards, a concert in a cellar… Immerse yourself for a weekend in the lives of the people who shape this unique vineyard.
