01. Leaving from Parc de la Bouzaize

Getting back into jogging: a course for everyone in the Parc de la Bouzaize

From 700 meters to 1.6 kilometers This 5-hectare park, located just 5 minutes’ walk from the town center, is a small nature interlude. Come and run around the lake (approx. 700 metres) in a tranquil setting just a stone’s throw from the town center. You’ll come across Ondine lounging on the lake, while you suffer through every lap. But running around this beautiful park with its romantic ambience will motivate you when it’s time to move on to session number 2 of your program.

My advice

Watch out for geese, which are particularly fond of runners’ calves.

My tip

It’s the ideal place to come for a run if you’re accompanied by children, who can enjoy the park’s play area and discover the animals at the small educational farm.

My favorite niche

Sooner or later. The sunsets over the vines are always splendid, even more so in Autumn! (When the weather’s right, of course).

02. Leaving from Parc de la Creuzotte

A sports trail with fitness facilities

A short but sporty 250-metre course. Here, the garden doesn’t follow conventional compositional rules. The natural site invites us to adapt and work with the terrain. Here, nothing is lost, everything is transformed. Even the superb fitness area is creative.

My advice

Equip yourself with a bottle of water, a small towel and your smartphone and download the free AirFit app to discover all the bodybuilding exercises you can do on this fitness area. Download for IphoneDownload for Android

My tip

Start with a short warm-up run around the nearby Parc de la Bouzaise lake (approx. 700 m) and finish with the fitness trail.

My favorite niche

When it’s not very busy. Between 12 and 2pm on weekends.

Park opening times

The Parks are open all year round, including Saturdays, Sundays* and public holidays, at the following times:

  • 01-Jan 31-Jan 8am to 5pm
  • 01-Feb 31-March 8am to 6pm
  • 01-Apr 31-May 8am to 9pm
  • 01-Jun 31-July 8h to 22h
  • 01-Aug 31-Oct 8h to 21h
  • 01-Nov 31-Dec 8h to 17h

* except WE opening at 9 a.m. On days of strong winds or thunderstorms, these gardens may be temporarily closed to protect the safety of users.

3. Leaving from Square des Lions

Tour of the ramparts

The tour des remparts de Beaune is 2.5 kilometers long. It’s a classic for runners in Beaune. Start from either the Square des Lions or the Rempart des Dames. If you’re just passing through, or if you’re away for the weekend, this route will allow you to discover the fabulous architecture of the town’s ancient fortifications: towers, watchtowers and bastions… You’ll marvel at this medieval setting. This running course is perfect for cardio training. It’s quite technical if you decide to take the various staircases and slopes to work up a bit of an incline. The tour of the ramparts can be complemented by one (or more) tours of the Parc de la Bouzaise or the Parc de la Creuzotte (or both for the champions).

My advice

If you’re more of a leisurely jogger, you can opt for the easier, longer but less technical option of taking the cycle path around the city walls.

My tip

Go there on Wednesdays or Saturdays in the late morning and take the opportunity to finish off at the market, which is just a stone’s throw away.

My favorite niche

In the evening, the ramparts are lit up.

4. From the Montagne de Beaune

JCE health trail

A 2.4 km course. If you’d like to do a bit of physical preparation for a race, head for the health trail at Montagne de Beaune (3.5km west of Beaune). Follow the Parcours JCE* signs. The 2.4 km course is lined with numerous apparatus, with explanations to help you work every part of your body. It’s a really enjoyable course. You run in the middle of the forest, in contact with nature. It’s hard to believe that the Hospices de Beaune and the town center are just 5 minutes away. For trail runners, the course is an excellent training ground.

My advice

For trail runners, the course is an excellent training ground.

My tip

Starting from the Parc de la Bouzaise, just for a run, it allows you to have a little more difference in altitude and to increase the distance if you wish to do more kms ( + 7kms round trip – Difference in altitude + 122).

My favorite niche

At the end of the day, after work, to unwind. Or on weekends with the family, taking part in various workshops with the kids.

5. On the vineyard path

Burgundy vineyard trail 10.4 kilometers. From the Parc de la Bouzaise, follow the Voie des Vignes signs to the village of Pommard, make a loop behind the church and return through the vineyards towards Beaune.

My advice

Keep your eyes open and your ears open: the Voie des vignes is shared by winegrowers and cyclists.

My favorite niche

Late afternoon.

My tip

A tour to be enjoyed in spring, when the vines and vegetation are in bloom, or in autumn, when nature is decked out in its beautiful golden hues.

6. On the Half-Marathon circuit

The Hospices de Beaune Wine Sale Half Marathon course winds its 21.1 kilometers through the vineyards of the Côte de Beaune. Put yourself in the shoes of a marathon runner. Far from the marathon of Paris or New York, here the vineyards of Burgundy accompany you. Escape through the vineyards for a few hours, it’s simply magical. With this very natural and rejuvenating run, you’ll follow the route of the Hospices de Beaune Wine Sale half-marathon. There’s plenty of room to run safely and at ease. Take a look at the ” Beaune half-marathon route ” which makes up this outing.

My advice

From the Parc de la Bouzaise, you can be in the vineyards in just two minutes.

My tip

Ask a friend to cycle with you. And remember to take a Camel back, and one or two energy gels.

My favorite niche

It’s the long Sunday morning outing before a well-deserved brunch.
