Bibracte is the name of an ancient Gallic town on Mont Beuvray, capital of the Eduens, one of the most powerful peoples in Gaul. In the museum, you can learn about the daily life of its inhabitants and other Celtic peoples in the 2nd and 1st centuries BC. Discover their crafts, agriculture and trade, as well as their religion, art and culture, through objects from excavations, models, reconstructions and audiovisuals. Come and see for yourself that these people were far less barbaric than Caesar would have us believe... The museum also has temporary exhibition rooms, a splendid bookshop and a restaurant serving Gallic cuisine. Visits last around 2 hours.
