Autumn in Burgundy

On the Route des Grands Crus

Autumn in Burgundy is a magical season when nature is decked out in flamboyant colors. The spectacle is breathtaking as soon as you arrive from Paris or Lyon: welcome to Burgundy. From golden vines to cultural and gastronomic events, Burgundy is a must-see destination for lovers of nature, history, gastronomy and wine.

A natural interlude

Autumn walks around Beaune

Around Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy, you’ll find picturesque trailheads to explore on foot or by bike. Hikes along the vineyard-lined Route des Grands Crus are particularly attractive in autumn. The circuits around Pommard and Volnay allow you to admire the golden vines and breathe in the fresh air of the Burgundy countryside. A little further down towards Chalon-sur-Saône and the Saône-et-Loire region, La Voie des Vignes passes through the Maranges between Santenay and Nolay, offering superb views.

A heritage to [RE]-discover

Beaune and its villages

A window on our heritage

European Heritage Days

In September, the European Heritage Days are the perfect opportunity to discover Beaune’s hidden treasures. Historic monuments such as the Hôtel-Dieu – Hospices de Beaune, the Collégiale Notre-Dame and more secret places rarely open to the public are revealed. The villages of the Côte de Beaune open the doors of their historic buildings or secret gardens.

Experience a Fascinating Weekend in Burgundy

The Fascinant Weekend, held in October, celebrates Burgundy’s vineyards through tastings, meetings with winemakers and wine walks. This event is a true wine festival, where autumn reveals all the richness of Burgundy’s terroir. Cellars open their doors for guided tours, allowing you to discover the secrets of winemaking. Winegrowers take you into their vineyards for landscape readings.

I'm taking up sport to

La Foulée des Vendanges de Savigny-lès-Beaune

Every autumn, the legendary Foulée des Vendanges race in Savigny-lès-Beaune attracts runners who want to combine the pleasure of running with the beauty of nature. 3 formats allow runners to take to the vineyards: half-marathon, 10km, 5km 100% women. And the atmosphere is just right: musical and gourmet refreshments, entertainment and races for children. Sport as we like it.

I'm filling up on emotions for the

Hospices de Beaune Wine Sale

In November, the Hospices de Beaune Wine Auction is a not-to-be-missed event for wine lovers. This charity auction, one of the most famous in the world, has been held for over 150 years. Autumn adds a special touch to this event, with tastings in Beaune and throughout the Côte de Beaune in a warm, festive atmosphere.

I'm going far away

Sleep amidst autumn-colored vines

For an authentic experience, staying in a gîte in the middle of the Burgundy vineyards is ideal. In autumn, the vines take on golden hues, providing the perfect setting to clear your mind. In Burgundy, gîtes are often set up in renovated traditional residences, winegrowers’ houses, estates…

I discover vineyards for

Autumn wine tasting

The year’s cuvées are in full vinification. The winemakers’ eyes are twinkling, in the hope of an exceptional year. Autumn is the season when everything comes together. Why not take advantage of the season to take part in an open-air wine tasting in the vineyards. Wineries organize tastings of their crus, accompanied by tours of the vineyards and cellars. It’s an opportunity to savor exceptional wines while enjoying the beauty of the autumn landscapes around Beaune, Pommard, Meursault, Nolay…

Invitation to gastronomy

I hesitate between truffles and snails

Autumn: the season for gourmets

Autumn in Burgundy is also a feast for the taste buds. The region’s restaurants celebrate local products such as Burgundy truffles. Dishes featuring truffles, mushrooms and game are a must in autumn gastronomy. Local chefs vie with each other in their creativity to sublimate these local treasures.

I love cheese, bread, wine

Perfect timing: in October, it's the Bread, Wine and Cheese Tasting Salon!

Burgundy, a land of wines, but also of traditional cheeses and breads from the bakery. The fair is organized by students from the BTS tourism program at Le Clos Maire, and it’s a real treat, to say the least.

An exceptional cultural off-season

I attend a concert

Visiting vineyards, cellars and estates is a must, but so are concert halls. The cultural season is in full swing, with some superb musical evenings in store. Jazz, baroque, pop-rock, there’s something for everyone.
