Coline Rio has a style, an electro-acoustic vibe, deep-seated obsessions (and fears), but also a determination to keep moving, never to stagnate in a formula.
In this sense, her album should be seen as a desire for affirmation ("On m'a dit" perfectly underlines this impulse), for openness to the world. Like a photo album, it brings together pieces of her life: encounters, family, the brightness of landscapes, childhood, scars, losses... Written in her almost empty bedroom, the day before she moved to Paris, "Elle laisse" chases away the ghosts of the past to chart a new beginning. A "she" that is as intimate as it is societal, resonating with both her own trajectory and an exile linked to current events. A reunion with Stan Neff (Patti Smith, Christine and the Queens, Biolay, Camille...), who worked alongside her to produce the album and support her in her creative freedom and letting go.
When she sets about summoning up her defeats in love, it is only to remember that
("Se dire au revoir", "A celui qu'on n'oublie pas"). She is also capable of drawing an impressionist charcoal picture influenced by Radiohead ("La rivière").
The natural elements, omnipresent in the songs, act as an intercessor here.
They stand there in their full presence, imbued with the characteristics we usually attribute to the living.
