CREMANT DE BOURGOGNESparkling wine or Champagne?
Crémant de Bourgogne sets itself apart

Crémant de Bourgogne

Crémant de Bourgogne is a sparkling wine with a regional appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC), made using the traditional Champagne method. It is produced from the Burgundy terroirs and grape varieties Pinot noir and Chardonnay.

A little history

Sparkling wine became increasingly popular in France and Europe in the early 19th century. The village of Rully, already renowned for its white and red wines, imported Champagne know-how to Burgundy. The creation of the Crémant de Bourgogne appellation for white and rosé wines was formalized in 1975.

Does it spritz?

The traditional, higher-quality method for producing fine mousse is the one used to make Crémant de Bourgogne wine. This method is identical to that used to make Champagne, and is also known as the méthode champenoise. It’s like the Champagne of Burgundy! Like Champagne, it contains carbon dioxide, which spritzes when the bottle is opened!

The secrets of the Maison Veuve Ambal

Crémant de Bourgogne is made to exacting specifications. It is also the result of rigorous know-how handed down from generation to generation. The best way to learn all about it is to visit Maison Veuve Ambal, which has been producing Crémant since 1898. Their passion for sparkling wines led them to unveil the secrets of the house through a tour of the production site. Guided or audio-guided tours from Monday to Friday reveal the robots and automatons in action during the traditional winemaking process. The discovery of its ageing cellars and projections on giant screens enhance the tour through the heart of the company. The tour is fascinating for adults and hypnotic for younger visitors, and the robots have a lot to do with it.
