Beaune wine auction Half-Marathon

In November, take part in the Vente des Vins de Beaune half-marathon, the most prestigious race in Burgundy.

The Semi-marathon de la Vente des Vins des Hospices de Beaune (Hospices de Beaune Wine Sale Half Marathon) follows the typical hilly roads of the Côte de Beaune vineyards. Runners pass through some of Burgundy’s most prestigious sites and villages(Pommard, Meursault, Volnay), which combine with the conviviality and folkloric atmosphere of this event. Musical entertainment and wine tastings enhance the race.

History of the Beaune Wine Sale Half Marathon

In 1986, the ” Vente des Vins de Beaune ” half-marathon was created under the impetus of the Athletics Section of the Société d’Emulation Beaunoise (S.E.B.). 450 runners took part in the first edition. In 1989, the route took in Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton. In 2001, the route was modified to include Pommard, Volnay, Meursault and Monthélie. Since the event’s inception, the number of participants has grown steadily, reaching an all-time high of 2,475 in 2014! Every year, over 5,000 participants, mainly from the Burgundy, Franche-Comté, Île de France and Rhône Alpes regions, set off on the Semi (21.100 km) and Foulées (10.400 km) courses. Take up the challenge!

The 2025 edition will take place on November 14 and 15, 2025. Registration opened on June 1. It’s time to get ready.

The Beaune Wine Sale Half Marathon has become a sporting event and a must for many runners, who take advantage of their stay in the Beaune area to indulge their sporting passion, but also to discover the city’s assets, its treasures and its specialities over the weekend.

The meeting place for celebrities and stars

Celebrities from the worlds of politics, sport (including Marie-José Perec in 2014, Sergueï Bubka and Jason Lamy Chappuis in 2015) and the arts… also attend the wine sales, take part in the Semi marathon and the Foulées Beaunoises and, in the evening, take part in the gala evening at Château Meursault. the gala evening at the Château de Meursault, during which an auction is held for the benefit of two associations, one local and one national, to which all proceeds from the sale of two jeroboams of Meursault’s finest crus are donated.

They ran the Half-Marathon

Many famous athletes and celebrities made the trip to run through the vineyards of the Côte de Beaune.

Beaunois and visitors alike were delighted to see Marie-José Pérec, a regular at our half-marathon. In 2016, she had been won over by the warm welcome she received from the people of Beaune and by the very special atmosphere of the Wine Sale weekend. The 2019 vintage of this legendary race was particularly lively thanks to the presence of Philippe Candeloro, who delighted with his verve and dynamism. Fabrice Guy, former Nordic Combined Champion, Laurent Brochard, cyclist, Eric Blanc, rugby player and creator of the Eden Park ready-to-wear brand, Jean-Françoois Lamour, former French minister and Olympic sabre champion, Sébastien Fouras, world champion freestyle skier, and Fabien Canu, judoka, were this year’s confirmed sportsmen and women. Valérie Mairesse, columnist on Laurent Ruquier’s Grosses Têtes, was also part of the adventure.

An Expo Village, the Festivinales Village, is organized at the finish site of the Wine Sale Half Marathon. Runners and visitors alike can discover Half-Marathon merchandise, regional products and a wide range of running-related items, as well as enjoying the many events and musical groups that make up the Village. The activities on offer are as follows:
