History of the Beaune Wine Sale Half Marathon
In 1986, the ” Vente des Vins de Beaune ” half-marathon was created under the impetus of the Athletics Section of the Société d’Emulation Beaunoise (S.E.B.). 450 runners took part in the first edition. In 1989, the route took in Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton. In 2001, the route was modified to include Pommard, Volnay, Meursault and Monthélie. Since the event’s inception, the number of participants has grown steadily, reaching an all-time high of 2,475 in 2014! Every year, over 5,000 participants, mainly from the Burgundy, Franche-Comté, Île de France and Rhône Alpes regions, set off on the Semi (21.100 km) and Foulées (10.400 km) courses.
