European Heritage Days 2024

Since 1984, the European Heritage Days 2024 have been an opportunity for everyone to discover the riches of French culture and heritage. Numerous sites offer new tours, while others are exceptionally open to visitors. Here’s the program for this 2024 edition on September 21 & 22 in the Beaune region.

Beaune city tours

The town of Beaune opens up its heritage to visitors and offers a number of unusual tours. [Re]discover the richness of the capital of Burgundy wines during these two exceptional days.

  • At the Musée des Beaux Arts
    • Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm

    Self-guided tours of theexhibition Legends of Sport. A Passion for Movement

    • Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

    Flash visits “The site of Olympia, an ancient and modern heritage” Maxi 15 participants An exhibition dedicated to sport and Olympism, going back in time to the first Olympian Games. The archaeological discoveries on display give us a more concrete idea of the sanctuary and how it functioned, and enable us to reconstruct it.

    Creative workshop: “Decorate your vase for the disabled” The Greeks used to depict the athletes of the ancient Games on their vases. With reference to the Paralympic Games, it’s your turn to create a vase in the style of the Ancients! Young public, max. 74 participants

    Game workshop: “On the road to Olympia with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey” Immerse yourself in a mythical video game and explore Olympia, a sacred site famous for its emblematic Games! You’re invited to wander around the sanctuary on your own, learning more about the various points of interest dotted around the site.     Open house: “In the footsteps of Beaune’s vanished monuments” exhibition Discover old documents from Beaune’s municipal archives in this exhibition curated by René Petit and Clément Lassus-Minvielle.

  • At the Hôtel des Ducs de Bourgogne - Musée du Vin

    Flash visits “Les métiers de la vigne” Discover the winegrowing professions: winemaker, cooper, oenologist … Maximum 15 participants

    Demonstrative workshop “Le métier de murailler” (The craft of walling) The “clos” (walled enclosures) that delimit vineyard plots are an emblematic heritage of winegrowing Burgundy. Discover the muraillers’ trade with Murs et Vignes.

    Association des Climats du vignoble de Bourgogne stand “Climats & patrimoine” The Climats of Burgundy will have no more secrets for you or your children, thanks to an interactive map and digital tablets to visualize in 3D the heritage of the Côte de Beaune et de la Côte de Nuits, a timeline of the origins and milestones in the history of the Climats, a quiz, a jumble game on the originality of Climat names and a children’s area with a revisited game of Goose, puzzles and coloring.   • At the Collégiale Notre-Dame
    • Sunday, 2pm to 5:30pm

    Guided tours: “Les appartements privatifs de la cure” New! The private apartments of the vicarage are now open to visitors! Former apartments of the dean of canons, they feature beautiful 18th-century woodwork and a number of works of art. You can also visit the collegiate church of Notre-Dame, with its 15th-century tapestries depicting the life of the Virgin Mary. Continuous, subject to availability

Chagny’s heritage will be open to the public for the European Heritage Days. You can visit :

  • Le Théâtre des Copiaus and archive photos of Chagny – Saturday: 2 pm to 6 pm and Sunday: 1 am to 12 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm
  • Hospital apothecary and Council Chamber – Saturday: 2 pm to 6 pm and Sunday: 3 pm to 6 pm
  • Eglise Saint-Martin – Saturday and Sunday, daytime, except for celebrations

Come and discover the secrets of Meursault’s built heritage:

This small Burgundy town has many surprises in store. Known for its wines, it is also a spa town. And it boasts an unrivalled heritage, such as the Moulin Sorine and the 2glise Saint-Jean de Narosse, both of which are well worth a visit during the JEP.

In Savigny-lès-Beaune

The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) are the perfect opportunity to visit some of the world’s most famous sites. The Château de Savigny-lès-Beaune is playing the game and welcomes you with a special JEP reduced rate. And it’s not just a château: 3 incredible museums showcase vintage vehicles: airplanes, fire trucks, motorcycles, Abarths…. A must-see!

Festival

In Saint-Romain

On the weekend of the JEP 2024, the “Entre cour et Jardins” (Between Courtyards and Gardens) traveling festival takes up residence in Saint-Romain. Unprecedented artistic experiences take place in remarkable natural spaces, architectures steeped in history and third places:

  • immersive choreographic and vocal performance
  • forest walk

Unusual visit

in Bouilland

Saturday and Sunday Guided tours : Domaine de la Maison de pallie Woodcarver Cyri l Bruyas reveals a round house built around the gigantic trunk of a cedar tree. Tours are accompanied by music with Jean-Claude Cottier at the piano.
